  • Parking

Parking is available in the city's public parking lots according to the current parking regulations. There are no special parking lots for participants. If possible, come by bicycle!

  • Start times and Neutralized zones

The 135 km and 61 km distances will have wave starts, while the 27 km distance will have a mass start. Start times can be found in the event programme. The start corridor opens 15 minutes before the start. Arrive early!

At the Tartu Rattaralli Gran Fondo, all distances begin with a ceremonial start. This is a traditional part of the event, where cyclists begin riding in a neutralized zone at a calm pace and move through the city under the guidance of organizers before the technical start is given and riders are allowed to choose their own racing speed.

The neutralized zone is 2.7 km for the 135 km and 61 km distances, and 3.3 km for the 27 km distance. In this section, participants ride in a group at a limited speed, and overtaking the lead vehicle is prohibited. The ceremonial start continues until the “Technical Start” or “0 km” mark, where riders are signaled and the actual race begins.

The purpose of the neutralized zone is to ensure participant safety and reduce crashes at the start.

  • Start schemas

135 and 61 km starts are located at Turu street next to Aura Water Center

27 km start is located at Turu street in front of Circle K

  • Time keeping and the track

This years courses will take participants on scenic roads of Vooremaa and Peipsiveere region. See course maps and profile here

All participants will receive a handlebar number, back number, and saddle number. The handlebar number includes a timing chip on the back, and must be mounted flat and clearly visible—do not fold or roll it. A deformed number will result in a 10-minute time penalty. How to fix the bib see here.

Wearing a helmet is mandatory! Leave your earphones at home, so you can use all your senses while cycling and have all your attention directed at what is happening on the track. Make sure that all extras that protrude beyond the standard dimensions of your bicycle are removed before the event, e.g. mirrors, luggage racks, kickstands, individual start or triathlon type handlebars, etc., to avoid catching on each other when riding in a group and additional injuries in the event of a fall.

Timing is electronic, and chips do not need to be returned.

There are four service and refreshment stations along the 135 km course, three on the 61 km course, and one on the 27 km course. Time limits for reaching checkpoints are listed in the race regulations. Please slow down at service and refreshment points to avoid accidents.

All service points also offer sports drinks in drinking bottles. Bring two full bottles from home to the start – if one gets empty, you can exchange it for a new one. If you don't exchange a bottle, use a cup – don't just take a new bottle! Of course, you can also refill your own bottle if you wish.

Take care of the course and the environment—dispose of waste in designated trash zones! Put empty wrappers in your pocket or under your jersey until you reach a proper bin. Littering on the course or in the forest is strictly prohibited.

  • Pace groups

Pace groups will start in the 135 km and 61 km distances, and all interested riders are welcome to join them.

For the 135 km distance, the pace groups will start in the last wave after the age groups.
NB! Riders in the 135 km pace groups will not compete in the Gran Fondo age category standings. The winners of the age categories will be determined only among riders who start in the age group waves.

For the 61 km distance, the pace groups will start at 10:20.

The group leaders will wear distinctive shirts, and group members will receive a colored wristband at the starting gate. Please return it to the organizers in the finish corridor or bring it to the secretariat tent.

There is no need to notify the organizers separately or register your name anywhere to join a pace group. The decision can also be made on the morning of the event at the start or later on the course.
