15. Tartu Inline Skating Marathon winners – Reinis Znotins and Anna Muzyka

Reinis Znotins (LAT) won the 15th Tartu Inline Skating Marathon for the second year in a row. For the first time, Anna Muzyka (UKR) won the overall victory among women.

Reinis Znotins separated from the group of leaders already before the first service point (13.4 km from the start). Znotins crossed the finish line alone (end time 00:57:52.7). Kaspar Kaljuvee (EST) was the second one to finish (+00: 58.4) and Mart Markus (EST) was the third one (+01: 08.5).

 

Kaspar Kaljuvee told that the main group tried to respond to Znotins attack at the very beginning of the race, but the Latvian was very strong. Kaljuvee also managed to get away from the group before the Vahi service point (30,2 km from the start). "It was difficult, but my teammates helped and I was strong enough," he explained.  "I am satisfied with today’s race. Znotins was just stronger today," he added.

 

The strongest in the women's competition was Anna Muzyka (UKR), who was able to ride in the main group until the very last kilometers. Muzyka's victory time was 00:59:28,45. There was a tight competition for the silver medal. Tuuli Vaher (EST) (+03: 49,5) won silver medal and Keiu Oras (EST) got the bronze one (+03:51,2).

In total 446 skaters registered for today's races. 237 of them participated in the 34 km distance, 145 in the 17,6 km distance and 64 in the shortest, 8,2 km distance.

Sunday morning began with children’s skating races with a total of 85 young skaters. 29 children took part of TILLUsõit with a distance of 500 m and 56 children took part of a 2,4 km long MINImaraton.

 

The next event of the season is the 24th Tartu MTB marathon, which takes place on September 19th.
