Almost 600 skiers participated in the preliminary events of Tartu Maraton
One of the oldest skiing marathon’s in the world, Tartu Maraton, will take place on 20th of February. Yesterday’s pre-events brought 588 people to the classical Otepää-Elva track.
In the 8. Tartu Relay Marathon, 75 teams were in the starting corridor. Each team had 4 members. Estonian Biathlon Team (Mart Všivtsev, Robert Heldna, Marten Aolaid, Jüri Uha) won the Relay Marathon with total time of 02:26.10.
According to Robert Heldna, the skier of the second shift of the winning team, the victory was expected before going to the track. "During the second shift, the gap started to go bigger and I didn't look behind anymore. Also the track conditions were very good," he stated.
The team Stihl (Kaupo Tammemäe, Joosep Tammemäe, Martin Nassar, Arvi Anton) got second place and team Nordic Jobs Worldwide (Jürgen Kukk, Peeter Kümmel, Robin Möll, Taavi Lehemaa) was third.

At the same time, the Open Track races (63, 31 and 16 km) also took place. A total of 284 skiers checked the marathon course before next week’s main races.
48th Tartu Maraton (63 and 31 km, CT) will take place next Sunday, on the 20th of February. Read more information from HERE.
