Announcing the new courses of Tartu Forest Marathon!
Several major changes are planned for the 41st Tartu Forest Marathon, and one of the main ones is new courses. From now on, all four distances will take the participants only on forest roads.
On Mother's Day, May 14, all runners and walkers start for the first time from Elva, Tartumaa Health Sports Center. That is also the finish location of all courses.
"The goal was to make new trails that would take runners entirely on forest and gravel roads. We are happy to say that runners no longer have to cross asphalt roads," explains Indrek Kelk, the main organizer of Tartu Forest Marathon.
According to Kelk, new trails make it possible to organize a distance of 21 km, instead of 24 km. This means that the participants have a total of four distances to choose from: 42, 21, 10 and 5 km.
The courses of all distances start from the finish corridor of the Tartu Ski Marathon and go along the legendary Tartu Marathon track for the first few kilometers. The distance of 42 km is the first 10 kilometers on the marathon course.
The organizing team also expects walkers for the three shorter distances.
In addition, there will be kids races for the youngest members of the family. "This kind of running day has been organized for a reason, so that families can celebrate Mother's Day in a naturally beautiful place and in the fresh air. With one start and finish location, logistical concerns also disappear, and there is a suitable distance and activity for each family member," says Kelk.
