50. Tartu Maraton, 18.02.2024

Tartu Maraton. Author: Adam Illingworth

AT THE START:

  • 10% of elite skiers are randomly selected for fluoro testing, and the results of the draw are revealed when bringing skis to the starting corridor.
  • Ski delivery for fluoro testing in the starting corridor is from 8:00 to 8:30. Athletes must have their race numbers on when bringing skis for testing.
  • After fluoro testing, checked skis are available in the ski rack next to the starting corridor gate, no later than 5 minutes before the start.
  • Skiers whose skis are not being tested must place them in the numbered area of the starting corridor. After bringing skis to the starting corridor, athletes can only leave without skis.
  • Only competitors with their racing skis and race numbers are allowed to enter the starting corridor. Escorts are not allowed in the starting corridor! Athletes are responsible for their skis in the starting corridor.
  • Previous winners of the Tartu Marathon and Estoloppet leaders are called to start in front of the start banner.
  • Brushes, liquids, powders, and sprays are prohibited in the starting corridor.

AT THE FINISH:

  • All podium winners skis on both the 63 km and 31 km distances will be tested. In addition, a random selection of skiers from all finishers is chosen by the Jury, and they are informed immediately after finishing by the organizers.
  • Organizers' vest-wearing staff collect skis in the post-finish corridor and take them for fluoro testing.
  • After testing, the athlete must come to the test area to collect their skis themselves.

PENALTIES:

If a skier arrives with skis late to the starting corridor:

  • Up to 5 minutes late: a fine of 50 EUR + additional ski check at the finish
  • More than 5 minutes late: the skier is not allowed to start (DNS), the race number is removed, and the timing chip is taken away (DNS).

In case of a positive fluoro test (red ski):

  • The skier is informed about the red skis by a jury member.
  • The skier is invited to view the test result.
  • Positive test before the start: the skier is not allowed to start, the race number is removed, and the timing chip is taken away (DNS).
  • Positive test after the finish: the skier is disqualified (DSQ).
