Lauri Tamm and Aidi Gerde Tuisk Win Tartu Rattaralli
The 131 km main distance of the 44th Tartu Rattaralli, held today, ended in a thrilling sprint finish, with 21-year-old Lauri Tamm taking the victory in a time of 02:48:13. Second place went to Karl Patrick Lauk (+00:00:01), who launched an attack five kilometers before the finish, and third place was claimed by Romet Pajur (+00:00:04).
"Lauk attacked surprisingly early, and for a moment it felt like I wouldn’t be able to catch him. But I eventually caught up, and with less than a kilometer to go, I managed to pass Karl Patrick with more momentum from behind,” commented Lauri Tamm on the decisive moments of the race.
In the women’s race, Aidi Gerde Tuisk (02:55:07) narrowly beat Polish rider Malwina Mul (+00:00:01) and her Norwegian teammate Camilla Bye (+00:00:01), who finished third.
“The strong wind made the race really tough. Riding with the men made the pace much higher, and I just tried to hang on. Camilla, Malwina, and I were in the same group and went all in for a final sprint,” said Aidi Gerde Tuisk.
In total, nearly 5,000 cyclists took part in the 44th Tartu Rattaralli events. The virtual races will continue until June 8.
