Before the Tartu City Marathon, Fosti has a good feeling and he thinks about winning and setting n new course record, but not only that.

"I have completed my bachelor's degree in Tartu, every street section is familiar, so I would like to see what has changed in this city," he says.

Although Fosti has run many marathons he has never completed one in Tartu. He has previously participated in the Tartu City Marathon only twice: in 2017 at the 10 km distance, which he won, and in 2018 at the half marathon.

"Since I have competed in the marathon title competitions at the end of the summer as a top athlete from 2014 to 2022, I haven't had time to complete a new training cycle for the Tartu City Marathon. In addition, the manager has also received offers from foreign competitions where there has been stronger competition," Fosti explains.

He knows so much about his future plans that he will run his last serious marathon in Tallinn next year. There, he will try to beat the 2:20 mark and win his last Estonian Championship medal with it.

After that, however, a new phase of life awaits him. "I know that a new interesting stageof my life awaits me, where I no longer have to chase records. However, I really enjoy sports and especially running, and I plan to participate in marathons for a long time," states Fosti, who plans to end his career as a top athlete.

The organizing team of the Tartu City Marathon invites everybody to join and show their respect to Estonia's most legendary marathon man of recent years.

The Tartu City Marathon will take place on October 1st, and the program includes 42, 21 and 10 km.
