Season recap
Almost 30 000 sports fans participated in the skiing, running and cycling events of Tartu Maraton Klassik series. Thank you for the wonderful sports year!
The season opened with the ski marathon. For a while, it was uncertain whether it could take place in its entirety due to the lack of snow. However, it was the heavy snowfall on the day of the race that created challenging conditions, ensuring that this year's skiing festival will be one to remember.
The forest marathon received a fresh makeover: the start and finish moved to the same location in Elva, and the running tracks were entirely on forest roads. The event also featured kids' races on the main day, turning it into a family festival in celebration of Mother's Day.
Rattaralli, held a couple of weeks later, was once again a part of the international Gran Fondo series. Cyclists started in age and pace-based starting groups, which had already gained favour among participants the previous year.
The MTB marathon enjoyed fantastic weather conditions: it was warm, with almost no rain until the final finishers crossed the line, and the track was delightfully fast.
The season-ending city marathon didn't have luck on its side weather-wise, but dedicated running enthusiasts braved the rain and strong wind. A significant number of participants, some of them in newly formed hiking groups, embarked on the updated tracks.
In total almost 600 people participated in all five events this year. Among them, 322 took part in the main events of the Tartu Maratoni Klassik. Almost the same number of dedicated young athletes participated in the kids' races.
The series champion was Kristo Prangel, who surpassed Rait Pallo and Sander Linnus. In the women's category, Ann-Christine Allik emerged victorious, followed by Anneli Tühis and Merilin Metsalu. The team competition was won by Areal Team, followed by Simuna Sports Club and Tripassion Triathlon Club. Review the points table here.
