Tartu City Marathon and Friday Night Run photo galleries
The Facebook photo galleries from the 15th Tartu City Marathon and Friday Night Run are now online! This year’s Tartu City Marathon weekend made an exceptional record, with more than 10,300 participants registered. This made it the largest mass participation sports event ever held in Tartu, as well as the biggest event organised by Klubi Tartu Maraton in the city.

The running celebrations began on Friday evening with Friday Night Run, bringing more than 2,600 runners and plenty of spectators to central Tartu. Celebrating its anniversary this year, Friday Night Run once again combined running and entertainment: an hour-long concert to warm things up, followed by a fun run through the city at night.
Saturday’s programme continued with children’s races and the main 42, 21 and 10 km distances, with nearly 5,000 runners and walkers registered by race morning. The 10 km was the most popular distance, with the half marathon close behind.
Spectators also turned out in large numbers on Saturday, cheering runners on both in the city centre and along other sections of the course.
Summer-like weather throughout the weekend
This year’s Tartu City Marathon will also be remembered for its exceptionally warm and sunny weather for early October. Participants in Friday Night Run, the children’s races and Saturday’s main events all enjoyed the beautiful conditions.
“It feels wonderful to see so many runners and spectators at Tartu City Marathon! It was especially nice to have such a great turnout throughout the weekend, from Friday Night Run to the children’s races and the main distances. The exceptionally warm and sunny autumn weather made it a real celebration of running,” says Race Director Indrek Kelk.
There’s still time to take part
Although the finish line in central Tartu has been packed away for this year, you can still take part in the Tartu City Marathon virtually. Registration for both the main virtual distances and the virtual children’s races remains open until the end of the week.
Choose your own route and a time that suits you – there’s still a chance to join this year’s Tartu City Marathon participants!
