Tartu Forest Marathon brings runners back into the forests of Southern Estonia
After a two-year break, the events of Tartu Forest Marathon will take place as planned. Program includes a charity event Heateo jooks, kids races and the main distances of Tartu Forest Marathon.
Main distances
On May 8th there are 42, 24, 10 and 5 km to choose from. Both marathon and half marathon distances start from Otepää and end in Elva. Shorter – 10 and 5 km tracks start and end in Elva.
Assar Kütt, the chief of course, says that the snow has melted and the course is in good condition. “There are some muddy places, but overall it’s good, track is ready for runners,” he says. In addition, all four distances are marked in nature so that people can explore the trails before the race.
Charity event and kids races
Forest Marathon program also includes charity run called Heateo jooks and kids races.
On the evening of May 6th, Heateo jooks will start. It’s organized in cooperation with Tartu Ülikooli Lastefond and donations will be collected for Kaspar with expressive speech disorder and Johanna with Rett syndrome. Participants can cover a distance of 4.5 km by walking or running. The participation fee is collected as a donation, a minimum of 5 euros, but an additional donation is also possible.
On Saturday, kids races are planned in Tähtvere Sports Park, where distances are from 400 m until 2 km. All participants will receive a medal, ice cream and lemonade at the finish. The participation fee is 3 euros.
Those who are unable to attend, have the opportunity to participate virtually. Virtual event has different distances: 42, 24, 10, 5 km and a marathon combo. In the case of a combo, the distance of 42 km can be covered in sections, minimum distance is 4.2 km. For kids, the minimum distance is 400 m. Adults and children can take part in the virtual event between 29.04. – 15.05.2022.
