Tartu Maraton program starts on Sunday with Tartu Relay Marathon and Open Track races
The 49th Tartu Maraton program will kick off this Sunday with the Relay Marathon and Open Track races. More than 500 skiers are expected on the route between Otepää and Elva
67 four-membered teams have signed up for the relay marathon, 201 skiers have registered for the Open Track races as of February 10.
According to Tartu Maraton course master Assar Kütt, 5 cm of snow has come in Elva during the night and snowfall is also expected for Saturday. "I plan to go grooming the track on Saturday evening, when the snowfall has finished, so by Sunday the participants will have fresh tracks," explains Kütt.
So, with a high possibility, the main races of Tartu Maraton will also take place on the original track. The organizers will make the final decision of the ski marathon no later than Tuesday of the new week.
In addition, the organizers decided that since this year's winter has been unpredictable in terms of weather conditions, the early bird price of the Tartu Maraton will be extended.
The 9th Tartu Relay Marathon and Open Track races (63, 31 and 16 km) will take place on February 12, while the main races of the 49th Tartu Maraton (63 and 31 km) will take place on February 19. More information and registration HERE.
