Tartu Rattaralli 128 km distance belongs to the UCI Gran Fondo World Series
For the first time in the history of Tartu Rattaralli, the 128 km distance belongs to the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. Cyclists start by age groups and the best of each group can take part in the World Championships at the end of the season.
Participation in the Gran Fondo
The UCI Gran Fondo World Series is a series of 25-30 events from around the world. All riders aged 19 and older who register for the long distance of Tartu Rattaralli are automatically considered to be participants of Gran Fondo (GF). In case the cyclist wants to take part in the series, he/she must start from the start group according to his/her age. There are five separate start waves: the elite group goes first (does not count in the GF), then the three starting waves: 19-39 year olds, 40-49 year olds, 50+ year old riders and lastly the pace groups (not counted in the GF). At the start participant will recognize the right gate by the colour – gate will have the same colour that is on participant's bib number.
If a participant starts 128 km from their age group and finishes in the top 20%, they will be awarded with a special series medal and will be eligible to compete at the end of the season at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Trento, Italy.
The top three in all GF age groups will be awarded on the podium. The winner of the age group will receive the cup and the shirt of the stage winner.
If you do not want to take part in the Gran Fondo
If a participant does not want to take part in the GF competition and does not want to start from his/her age group, he/she can start either from the elite group or pace groups. Special requirements apply for the elite group riders. Participant can make the decision to start in the pace group latest in the event morning, right before the start. At a distance of 128 km, there are 3 pace groups with expected end times: approx. 3h 45 min, 4h 10 min and 4h 40 min.
All participants will receive a Rattaralli medal. Klassik series points will be calculated according to the general protocol, where the riders will be ranked according to the finish time, regardless of the wave in which they started.
GF does not include other distances of Tartu Rattaralli: 60 km and 27 km. In 60 km there are 4 pace groups with expected finish times (participant can choose). In 27 km all cyclists start at the same time.
