Start arrangement of Tartu Rattamaraton, how to choose the start group

13.09.2023

All three distances have wave starts and participants choose their own start group based on the preliminary finish time. There is no need to inform the organisers about the preferred group and the decision can be made latest in the marathon morning. The only exception is the 89 km elite group (nr 1-150), which is based on the regulations of the elite riders.

Start corridors are opened for all distances 15 minutes before the start of the 1st wave. Corridors are marked with the information of start wave, start group and expected finish time (check the photo below). At each start gate there is also an organizer from whom the additional information can be asked.

There is a five-minute interval between each start.

  • In the 1st wave, the separation between the elite group and the 1st start group will be removed 1 minute before the start.
  • Starting from the 2nd wave, the groups move smoothly to the starting line 3 minutes before their start.
  • Riders who reach their start corridor later than 3 minutes before the start of the respective wave, and the wave has started to move, must enter from the back gate of the corridor, and start from the back rows.
  • The gates for earlier starts will be closed.

Riders of the last three  Tartu Rattamaratons will receive a recommended start group

via e-mail.

For each wave, timing starts at the firing of the start gun.

Start times are available in the program, start organization on the scheme and in the race regulations
